Google’s DV360 business name and logo requirements became mandatory for YouTube & partners line items on October 12, 2026. Advertisers using Display & Video 360 now need to ensure eligible YouTube ads carry an approved business name and logo, either through advertiser-level defaults or ad-level settings.

Previously, the displayed business identity could be inherited from the YouTube channel hosting a video. The updated controls give advertisers direct responsibility for the branding shown with supported ads. For agencies handling multiple brands, creator-hosted videos or bulk creative uploads, this is a campaign setup and approval issue, not a new targeting or bidding feature.

What changed on October 12, 2026?

According to Google’s official DV360 guidance, a business name and logo are required for YouTube & partners line items from October 12. The same controls are available for supported Demand Gen ads, but the stated October 12 enforcement deadline specifically names YouTube & partners.

Advertisers can save a default business name and logo so newly created eligible ads inherit them. Teams can also override those defaults for a particular ad when a product, regional brand or partner promotion needs its own identity. This is especially relevant when a video is hosted on a partner’s YouTube channel but the paid ad needs to display the advertiser’s brand.

For teams creating or updating YouTube responsive ads through the DV360 API or Structured Data Files (SDFs), business name and logo values are required when advertiser-level defaults do not exist. Google documents a creation and update requirement; it does not say every existing ad is automatically paused. Check the actual ad status rather than assuming a campaign has stopped.

Which formats and assets are affected?

The custom identity settings are available for supported responsive formats across YouTube & partners and Demand Gen. They do not apply to every placement. Advertisers running mixed-format plans should check the format before assuming an identity setting will appear.

Google specifies a 25-character maximum for the business name. The logo must be square (1:1), at least 128 × 128 pixels, preferably 1200 × 1200 pixels, with a maximum file size of 5,120 KB. A horizontal mark or an overlong name should be corrected before the ad is submitted for review.

How to set advertiser defaults and ad-level overrides

Advertiser-level defaults: In DV360, open the advertiser and go to Advertiser settings → Basic details → YouTube and Demand Gen settings. Enter the approved business name, upload the logo and save. New eligible ads will inherit these values. Removing the default later does not retroactively change ads already created with it.

Ad-level overrides: When creating or editing a supported ad, upload the preferred logo under Media and enter the business name under Text. Those settings apply to that ad rather than every ad under the advertiser. Teams managing several products or sub-brands should check that the correct identity accompanies each creative.

Separating the hosting channel from ad identity matters more as creator content moves into paid distribution. Our coverage of YouTube Creator Partnerships explains why advertiser and creator workflows increasingly overlap.

A rejected business name or logo can block an ad

The business name and logo go through Google’s normal advertising asset review. If either is disapproved, the entire ad is disapproved. An inaccurate name, unsuitable logo or brand mismatch can therefore delay launch even when the video, audience and bidding settings are otherwise ready.

Agencies should confirm the correct business identity before trafficking, especially when one DV360 advertiser contains multiple product brands or the same creative templates are used repeatedly. For bulk uploads, check the Business Name and Logo Asset IDs fields whenever advertiser defaults are missing, and confirm that inherited values suit the ad.

This is separate from the transparency issues covered in our analysis of Google Ads AI transparency labels. The policies address different questions, but both belong in the creative approval process.

DV360 launch checklist for marketers

  1. Identify affected ads. Review new and edited YouTube & partners creative and confirm whether the format supports custom identity assets.
  2. Set an advertiser default. Use the approved name and square logo wherever most campaigns share a single brand.
  3. Inspect brand exceptions. Check sub-brands, partner-hosted videos, regional campaigns and ad-level overrides.
  4. Test bulk trafficking. Make sure responsive ads uploaded through SDFs include the required fields or correctly inherit defaults.
  5. Confirm ad approval. Check any rejected identity asset, correct it and resubmit the affected ad before launch.

The identity check sits alongside, not instead of, the usual campaign controls. Teams relying on Campaign Manager 360 for ad serving and measurement should continue reviewing tracking, attribution and landing-page consistency during launch QA.

For B2B advertisers, the practical response is straightforward: set the right defaults, review exceptions and verify that each eligible ad clears review. The new branding rule does not guarantee better performance, but an unapproved name or logo can prevent the campaign from running.
